Hello all!
I live near Lelylaan in Amsterdam. We are close to a couple of parks, but most are quite overrun. It is of course illegal to forage here, but I´ve never been stopped while picking up some dandelion leaves in quiet places. But as a rule, I don´t forage around the city, as there is too much pollution of all kinds.
I am from Norway, and there we have “the right to roam”. That means that by law we are allowed to go almost anywhere in the wild, and forage for almost anything as long as we do it with respect for nature. I grew up learning how to respectfully forage for clover, pine, cloudberries, blueberries and rowanberries (all the time thinking this was normal), so moving to amsterdam has been quite the change for me.
I am very much looking forward to learning more about urban herbs, how to be a better forager and to help more plants grow here!
