Hi everyone!
My name is Lotte and I love in the North side of Amsterdam. I like it here because it is relatively green. Near my house are amongst other things some garden complexes, the Vliegenbos, Schellingwouderbreekpark and some green pieces of land in between things.
In the Netherlands foraging is not legal, but until I just red it in the course material I never heard of anyone getting fined. I think it is mostly about taking care and ding it in a sensible and ethical way.
I am a bit worried sometimes about pollution, as there is a lot of ships, some industry, lots of dogs and historical waste and soil pollution. I talked once to a city ecologist about introducing more edible plants when they are going to rebuild the Schellingwouderbreekpark and he said this is irresponsible because of the soil in Amsterdam being too polluted to harvest. This kinda startled me. However, I also believe having a good relationship with nature in general and your surroundings especially is healthy, and limiting your intake also limits the harm by pollution.
