Foraging is not legal, but I have met people here and there that forage things like stinging nettles and elderflower. I think certain plants are tolerated more than others certainly, It matters a lot *where* you find the plants. I have heard of some instances that foragers get *told off* at most but apparently there is quite a hefty fine that technically could be given! Buut I believe generally, if you are harvesting respectfully, and not hurting the environmental balances, perhaps not even foraging from the most popular ones then you are good. One should be more careful for things like elderflower, which seems more fashionable to forage than weeds, and I imagine as it is a flower, over plucking could endanger the species or the bees…
