The Tarot is clearly a great companion for you. No need to add more to the mix of divination. The way you talk to your deck is beautiful. There is a recent surge of interest in the woman (Pamela Coleman Smith) who was the artist commissioned to create the artwork for the Rider-Waite deck. Maybe interesting to dig into sometime. She, Rider, and Waite were a very interesting group of people.
About storytelling; I was writing yesterday about how folklore can help build our love of nature and found some research where storytelling has been found to have measurable physical benefits like increased oxytocin, lowered cortisol levels, and reduced blood pressure. This was alongside what we know already, and helps explain how it can help create social bonds and emotional connections. So although we don’t need scientific research to tell us that we like hearing a good story, this is even more reason for us to enjoy the experience of either listening to or telling them.
