Hello everyone and thank you Lynn for providing this space for learning and expanding our horizons.
My name is Nikos. I am from Cyprus and I moved to Amsterdam few months ago. I live in Ransdorp and the scenery is amazing. There are a lot of fields around. I am new to foraging so I haven’t explore the surroundings and what they have to offer as I would like to get more comfortable on identifying plants first. I did some nettle picking when I lived in Berlin as it is very popular there.
Back in Cyprus I used to forage wild thyme, wild garlic and forest mushrooms as it is legal and lot of people are still using what nature has to offer.
As for Ransdorp I haven’t seen anyone foraging yet. As it is not legal in the Netherlands but tolerated I suppose not many people are foraging. I do have some herbs in my garden and I enjoy using them.
Really keen to learn more and enrich my cooking with the magic of natural ingredients.
