Hi All, I am Anelle, living in Utrecht city centre, working in Amsterdam city centre, and originally from South Africa with Namibian roots. While foraging is illegal in NL, I have seen a few people foraging on the outskirts of Utrecht. With a smaller city like Utrecht, it’s a short walk until you are outside in nature, so perhaps this attracts more people to foraging.
In South Africa we have permits for various types of foraging, whether it is coastal in summer, or mushrooms and fynbos later in the year for instance. While foraging with a permit is legal, there is a long list of rules on when, where, how much, etc.
