Hi I’m Eilidh and I live in England, UK. The rules around foraging are a little tricky, we have this:

“A person who picks mushrooms growing wild on any land, or who picks flowers, fruit or foliage from a plant growing wild on any land, does not (although not in possession of the land) steal what he picks, unless he does it for reward or for sale or other commercial purpose.”

But we also have this:
you are allowed to pick wild plants and fungi on any land. However, it’s essential that you get the landowner’s permission to go onto private land.

A lot of land in England is privately owned and some will be protected by the national trust for example and by local bylaws. However I live in the countryside and tend to stick to areas where we are free to walk, picking from hedgerows and have never had a problem.
