How We Practice at Urban Herbology
Rooted, Reflective, Evolving
This course isn’t just about learning Urban Herbology, it’s about living it. That means looking closely at where things come from, how we move through the world, and what kind of futures we want to help grow.

Materials & Sourcing
We work with local, seasonal, and respectfully gathered herbs whenever possible. Tools and containers are often reused, repurposed, or sourced from charity shops and local makers. Recycled paper and natural materials are the norm here - not perfection, but thoughtful choices.
Digital Tools & Infrastructure
We currently use tools like email and WhatsApp for ease and accessibility - but we’re aware of the ethical tensions and digital ‘supply chains’ behind these systems too. If you prefer other platforms like Signal or have ideas for better-aligned tools, your voice is welcome.
Moving Through the World
When attending walks or workshops, you are warmly encouraged to come by bicycle or public transport where possible - it’s one small way to tread a little lighter. That said, we know that everyone’s circumstances are different, and there’s always room for flexibility and compassion.
A Living Practice
Ethical herbalism and living as part of urban nature isn’t about being flawless. It’s about staying curious, being in relationship - with plants, people, place -and noticing the silky chains that link everything together. This course grows from those values. Your questions, concerns, and contributions are part of the path.
